DIMINISHED CHORDS IN TUNES: "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered”. INSIDER’S SCOOP”- Jazz Ranch

This is different from the Barry Harris system of 6th diminished scale and diminished chord approaches to inversions of major 6th chords and relative minor chords. This is how diminished chords work in a song to create ascending and descending chromatic approaches to chords in a chord progression. This is for a more sophisticated harmonic interpretation of a song. Diminished chords are used extensively in classical music and jazz. Here’s an example using the song Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered, written by Rodgers and Hart. Other examples in this tutorial include Ain’t Misbehavin’, Someday My Prince Will Come, and The Song Is You.
