On today’s morning walk around Ubud I meet with Made a local artist who I’d met many times on the street but didn’t realize he painted the Basquiat copies I’d stumbled on previously and fell in love with.
We go to Made’s kampung where we watch him work while asking him about his Balinese life and family. Made knows a great deal about many things and is always interesting to talk to.
A nurse explains to us the most common cause of problems the ambulance service attends to is tourist Bali belly problems and I explain why I always carry gut paralyzers and some other medication to treat the occasional tummy bug.
I take the opportunity to sit in an old demo or bus and reminisce about the days when this form of travel was challenging and also a lot of fun.
Another great walk around Ubud, Bali.
