Known as the artist of Thalassophobia, Ivan Aivazovsky dedicated his life to painting the ocean. He became a master of his craft, to the point where it’s said that no one has ever painted water quite like he did.

In his paintings, he captured the majesty of the sea while subtly introducing terrifying stories into his landscapes. Shipwreck survivors calling for help, ships destroyed by waves, electric storms in the middle of the ocean… all of this can be found in his works.
