Rainbow of Love (Claymation from 2013)

This is a quick and dirty claymation I made back in 2013. My friend, Tyler, had shown me a video of a snippet of the Crystal River Boys performing “Rainbow of Love” (look it up). Ken Turner, the bass singer, totally mesmerized me.

A few days later while thinking about the video, I thought it would be funny to do a claymation version starring a walrus as Ken Turner. The other members were substituted with the first creatures that popped into my head: A lion, a tortoise, and a potted plant. They made for a lovely line-up in my opinion.

I remember really only focussing on entertainment and not obsessing about quality. I hadn’t even really worked with clay at the time, and did everything “wrong” (no armatures, clay dried out, clay got dirty, no proper manipulation tools, et cetera). But that’s okay. The spirit of the piece was the important part.
