MS Hug Stretches #shorts

Let’s talk about the dreaded “MS hug” 😓👇

The MS hug is a weird and uncomfortable feeling, right?

💥 It’s a type of spasticity caused from MS that can hit anywhere from your hips to your throat, but it usually shows up in the belly or chest area.

Stretching doesn’t always reduce it, but when it does, here are a few stretches that can help:

1️⃣ Torso Twist
2️⃣ Cat/Cow
3️⃣ Side Bend
4️⃣ Lateral Rotation

According to research on MS spasticity, it's most effective to hold each of these stretches anywhere from 10 seconds to 60 seconds and repeat them 2-4 times each -- whatever feels best for your body.

And when stretching isn’t cutting it, movement can make a difference!

So, try to get moving on the days you’re feeling up to it. Movements that might help are:

walking
arm swings
forward punches
yoga flows

In The MSing Link book, we’ve got a whole chapter on physical therapy techniques to help with symptoms like the MS hug, foot drop, fatigue, and spasticity.
