One of my favorite MS physical therapy treatment techniques for my in-person clients is dancing the foxtrot 💃 to Frank Sinatra!
Hear me out 🪩…
There's MS research showing the benefits of ballroom dancing for improving mobility & walking in people with MS - and it's easy to see why!
The foxtrot requires:
🤸♀️ balance
🕺 coordination
💪 strength
🏃♀️ speed changes
🦶 stepping in different directions
...all things that are ALSO required throughout our day-to-day life for things like walking, climbing stairs, and daily movement!
Not only that, but it's FUN and always puts a huge smile on my client’s face 🤩 (and mine)!
So, yeah... I'd pick a fun Frank Sinatra song, press play ⏯️ and my patient and I would dance it out!
It was so effective that I implemented dance classes inside of The MSing Link lead by a ballroom dancer! My cheeks seriously hurt from smiling SO much after each class 🤣!!
Let yourself have some fun when you're exercising to improve mobility.
You deserve it!
Have you ever tried this technique? If not, will you start?! 👇 Comm
