Celebrating Saint Thyagaraja’s 250th Birth Anniversary with a presentation of ‘Nauka charitam’, an episode from Bhagavata in which little Krishna plays a trick to put an end to the arrogance of the young women in Vrindavan. The women take a ride on a beautiful boat (‘nauka’) on the Yamuna river. During the journey, they make fun of Krishna. Krishna creates a thunderous rain that threatens to sink the boat. The women, however, forsake their clothes to cover the holes in the boat and pray to the Gods to help the little Krishna. He feels sorry and puts everything back to normal.

Meaning:
Damsels! Watch this grand spectacle of GOpis dancing around Krishna and steering the boat. Some are singing the glories and chanting the names of Hari, while others in effervescent glee are kissing and praying to YamunA with their pearl necklaces swinging daintily. Some intoxicated by their love for Krishna lose control of their lace garments and others of their curly tresses, which get loose and fly helter-skelter in the wind. Some have their breasts undulating, while others regale each other with the pranks of Krishna. "This Krishna is the friend of TyAgarAja," say some of them. Some find the musk dot on their foreheads dissolving in the water and others find the flowers in their tresses slipping, all in the backdrop of the dulcet jingles from the bracelets of the rest.
