Antoine vs. Shirt – A Seal’s Life on the Line

It’s so simple for us. With hands and tools, cutting through a tattered shirt takes just a few seconds. For a seal, it’s an impossible battle. No hands, no tools, and no way out.
This rescue highlights the reality of marine entanglements caused by clothing, plastic, and other human waste ending up in the ocean. What might seem harmless on land becomes a deadly trap underwater as it slowly tightens, cuts, and eventually kills. The Ocean Conservation Namibia team found this seal on time, but if they hadn’t intervened, this seal would have starved, suffocated, or died from infection.
