Many woodworkers are familiar with steaming wood but this is a quick and easy way that works without using a steam enclosure.

The towel has just the right level of absorption to hold the water on the wood and let it steam when boiling water is applied. After just a few minutes it was soft enough to bend. I applied the steam to the outer side as it is the part getting flexed harder. If this was a concave shape I would steam the other side.
