WHAT IS DISCUSSED IN THIS VIDEO
Nearly 1 in 4 people over the age of 50 will experience a huge, large floater that shows up in their vision. Symptoms of flashing lights, reduced vision or contrast sensativity, and spiderwebs can show up. This type of large floater we discuss in this video is called a posterior vitreous detachement. Because the symptoms are similar to a retinal detachement, it is important to have an eye exam to check for any retinal holes, tears, detachements. A lot of times the treatment is to monitor to see if symptoms improve. But, there are a couple of precedures availabe to treat it, such as yag laser or a floater only vitrectomy. There are hopefully some more treatments and supplements that are being developed in the future as well.
