1. Shuddhi/Purification 🔱
▶️ Make sure to clean (sweep & mop) your home and the place of Sadhana before taking your evening bath.
▶️ Take a head bath in the evening of the 26th before the beginning of the first Prahara, i.e., 6:30 PM.
▶️ Wear fresh clothes for Sadhana.
2. Fasting 🔱
▶️ A fruit fast is generally recommended. Consume water-rich fruits such as watermelon and natural fluids like coconut water and vegetable juices during the day on the 26th.
▶️ Avoid cooked foods/meals, especially those containing rice and other grains.
▶️ Once the Prahara starts (6:30 PM onwards), stay only on water throughout the night.
▶️ Upavasam – When your body is fasting, your mind should be engrossed in Shiva Naama Japa, Stotra, or Kirtanam. Only then does fasting become fruitful.
▶️ Mounam – Practice silence in all forms (speech, gestures, and thoughts) during the fast to support your body, especially your nervous system.
