On today’s walk I meet a Balinese nurse who loves to spend time in her family’s market and who also has a stuntman for a boyfriend. Her dream is to be rich and happy.
A man with a basket of ducks outside his home tells me about a ceremony he’s attending and what he uses the knives for that he carries on his belt.
A couple who own a roadside shop ask me if I’m alone and share a local food called Grupuk.
I mention the market on Jalan Raya that most people don’t see as they’re probably asleep - this market starts at 4am and is gone by 8am turning into a tourist thoroughfare before most people get up.
I also have conflict about going into a Balinese temple as I don’t share similar beliefs and consider it might be disrespectful.
