For the first time since 1997, India are on the verge of losing a bilateral ODI series against Sri Lanka as the two nations take on each other in the third and final ODI of the three-match series at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on Wednesday (August 7).

Sri Lanka's interim white-ball Head Coach Sanath Jayasuriya was then the Player of the Series, which the Arjuna Ranatunga-led side won 3-0.

Despite the streak of injuries in the Lankan camp, the Charith Asalanka-led side has managed to keep the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup Runners-Up on the back foot.

After the series opener ended in a dramatic tie, the hosts did a commendable job in the second ODI to take a 1-0 lead with a game in hand, making sure they wouldn't lose the series.

The pitch in Colombo slowed down as the match progressed, but for some reason, the Indian skipper seemed to make batting during the new ball phase easy. The ball spun square, and both teams had issues playing it out. However, a few players from both units have managed to add some valuable contributions with the bat on this tricky Colombo surface.
