On today’s walk I stay around the markets and meet an egg seller who used to work on cruise ships and would like his own restaurant. I also chat to a local chef who learned her trade from her mother and father.
One vender’s daughter asked if maybe I could teach her English while she teaches me Indonesian. She says she doesn’t sleep much during her day.
In a different market I talk with a young Balinese man who walks the area selling fashion accessories and tea towels. One woman bargains with the man and I pay for her tea towel making her go inside her shop to bring me a little surprise gift.
On the way home I see Made again, a man who lives close to my place and is knowledgable on all things Balinese. I ask Made if Balinese men grow their hair long when their wife is pregnant. He answers with three different reasons a Balinese man might have long hair.
Another great walk around Ubud, bali.
