Detailed Explanation on How to Convert General Equation to Standard Equation (Parabola)

Sa previous na video (Oh, here's the link of that video:    • How to Graph a Parabola given the Sta...   ), we learned how to graph a parabola given its standard equations. PERO paano naman kung naka general form ang equation natin? So... watch this.

Steps are merely:
1. Pagsama-samahin yung magkakavariable sa both sides ng equation.
2. If there's any coefficient ng variable na naka-square (3x^2 or 7y^2), ifactor out muna yung coefficient na yun so you can isolate them, then divide the whole equation by that number.
3. Perform "completing the square" (YSB has explained how to complete the square step by step so I know you'll be able to understand). Since nag add ka on one side of the equation, you also have to add on the other side of the equation then simplify.
4. Factor the perfect square trinomial (kunin mo lang yung square root nung first and last term then the sign will depend doon sa sign ng nasa gitnang part).
5. Factor out the coefficient na kasama naman ni x or y mo. For example, you have 5x+15, factor out 5, so magiging 5(x+3).
THERE YOU HAVE IT.

Hope this helps!
God bless you!

Kim
