Bristronica 24: Slate + Ash's Spectres and Cycles

Kai Whiston and Joe Dean from Slate + Ash,  introduced us to their sound design instruments, Spectres and Cycles. Spectres incorporates avant-garde techniques, creating intricate collages inspired by musique concrète and tape loops, with built-in sounds from a New York collective of musicians. Designed with granular synthesis in mind, you can modulate and manipulate samples with an array of physical and digital processes.

Cycles allows for the integration of your own sound material, providing a versatile experience with its curated bank of modular and acoustic loops. The product capitalizes on the ability to capture and transform hardware audio sources into evolving soundscapes. Cycles also features downloadable content packs, pushing the boundaries of what users can create by blending legacy synths with modern sound design techniques.
