Goa Doce Recipe
1 cup chana dal [ soaked in water for about 3-4 hours ]
1 cup water
2 cups grated fresh coconut
2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
1 tbsp ghee
3/4 tsp cardamom powder

Method
Pressure cook the soaked dal with little salt and 1 cup water for 3 whistles. Then mash the dal well by passing it through a sieve or blend it in a mixer. Also blend the grated coconut separately in a mixer without using water.
In a thick bottomed pan add the dal, the coconut and the sugar and on a low flame cook the doce till it thickens. Once thickened, add ghee and the cardamom and mix well. Pour the doce in a thali greased with ghee and allow it to cool completely. Cut pieces and enjoy.
