Wellbutrin or Buproprion can increase anxiety. Some providers will prescribe it for Generalized Anxiety Disorder or Panic Disorder, but it is NOT approved for these conditions and can make them substantially worse. Everyone is different, and a small subset of individuals may receive benefit for these indications, but it is not the norm. This medication has various indications and can really help some individuals with smoking cessation, ADHD, depression and it is used in some cases for weight loss, but if you have concerns about anxiety be sure to talk to your provider about risks and benefits.

Do not start, stop or change doses of a medication without speaking directly with your provider.
