Located in northeastern Arizona roughly 100 miles east of Flagstaff, Petrified Forest National Park is known for colorful fossilized logs preserved for hundreds of millions of years in the ever changing environment of the area. In addition to petrified fossils, the park is also home to ancient Native American dwellings, some of the best preserved in the United States, and a variety of flora and fauna that have adapted to the distinctive climate of the area.
