Alexander the Liberator

Better known as Alexander the Second of Russia, Alexander the Liberator was an emperor known for his reforms to Russian government and society, particularly his emancipation of the serfs, alongside his less peaceful achievements. Despite his reforms, he was unpopular among some Russians and suffered many assassination attempts until one succeeded. Alexander’s humanitarian reforms and policies changed Russia in drastic ways, and although many were done away with by his successor, Alexander III, his legacy had a resounding impact.
