House Republican Leadership Holds News Conference on CR

"We'll have the votes," said House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) as he and House Republican leaders held a news conference ahead of a vote to fund the government with a continuing resolution (CR) through the end of the fiscal year in September.

This came three days before a funding deadline to keep the government running. House Freedom Caucus Chair Andy Harris (R-MD) joined party leadership to share support for the CR, though historically, the Freedom Caucus had been opposed to continuing resolutions. Speaker Johnson also answered reporters' questions on Rep. Thomas Massie's (R-KY) reported opposition to the bill, whether he needed Democratic support, and the arrest of Columbia University graduate Mahmoud Khalil.
