The Trump administration is pausing all shipments of military aid to Ukraine, potentially crippling the country's war effort against an invading Russia. It's a dramatic escalation of tensions between the U.S. and Ukraine, which boiled over after President Trump and Vice President JD Vance’s extraordinary argument with President Zelensky last Friday. But while pressure is being ramped up on Ukraine, Russia is receiving more benign treatment. The White House is pausing offensive cyber operations against Moscow and is even considering sanctions relief. As U.S. foreign policy continues to shift, the European Union is announcing an $800 billion plan to re-arm the continent and provide aid to Ukraine. But will it be enough? Joining the program with answers is Alexander Vindman. He specialized in Eastern Europe and Russia on the National Security Council during Trump’s first term, eventually blowing the whistle on the president's threat to suspend military aid to pressure Zelensky into investigating Hunter Biden. The release of Vindman's new book, "The Folly of Realism: How the West Deceived Itself About Russia and Betrayed Ukraine," could hardly be more timely.
