How to Process and Manage Emotions | S.I.F.T. Anxiety Meditation

If you experience high anxiety or panic attacks today, you have likely experienced a ton of these messages of toxic positivity:
"It's not that big of a deal."
"suck it up."
"big boys or big girls don't cry."
"Stop overreacting"
"just think positive."
"don't be such a Debbie downer."

These messages teach us that it is not safe to express emotions.
You may not have learned about the wide range of emotions and sensations you might experience throughout your life. Feelings that are painful and overwhelming but still normal and healthy to have.

SIFT is an acronym that stands for each of the steps in this process.
S stands for sensing
I stands for images
F stands for feelings
T stands for thoughts

Practicing this daily will help you SIFT through all your emotions and challenges and even help you make difficult decisions.
