The cartoon you're looking for is "Turbo Teen" where a kid becomes accidentally bonded to his car. When his body temp goes up he transforms into the car.
You need a C5 Z06 in the shop. Education for the uninitiated: These cars are pretty important, historically speaking. All the lightweighting, suspension/chassis, gearing, and power effort on the C5 Z06 Corvette was worth it in the end as it had one of the fastest Nürburgring times and lap times of any production car in its era. "When the C5 Corvette Z06 clocked its 7:56 Ring time (remember this was 20+ years ago and the track wasn't as optimized as it is now), it was a pretty big deal. It was the first truly stock/OEM/production car to break past the eight-minute mark." They even went so far as to put titanium exhaust on the car from the factory; the first true production car to do so, thinned the window glass, removed sound deadening, lighter weight Speedline wheels from Italy, stiffer and lighter body compared to the base C5 hatchback, stiffer suspension, etc. etc. Oh, and this was also during the era of the C5-R dominating GT racing, including multiple 24 Hours of Le Mans wins.
Please do a video on repairing the ECBM. Many pre-2001 Corvette owners were told those EBCM models are not repairable. Thank you.
Longtime C5 owner: I bought my 1999 Z51 coupe in 2003 and have been driving it ever since. It has been autocrossed, drag raced and now I use it for open track days. It’s been the most reliable car I’ve ever owned. A few comments on this Sheriff’s C5: - as many have notice, it is a fixed roof coupe. This was the precursor to the Z06. Included in that package was the Z51 suspension and power steering cooler. - this car has an aftermarket oil to air engine oil cooler fitted in front of the radiator. This is a common modification for people who take their cars on the road course. - the front brake ducts are aftermarket and a popular modification for cars that run on the road course. - the springs appear to be aftermarket replacements Overall, it’s a very clean car that looks like it is driven. Hats off to the Sheriff who owns it!
Only $2k in work? Ain’t hoovies car, that’s for sure.
Totally agree with Dave - it is easily the best generation of Corvette that still looks more slippery through the air than any other Corvette. And when every aspect of ownership is considered - ease of repair/maintenance, parts availability/cost, customization options, practicality for a 2 seater, fun-to-drive factor, drivetrain durability. limited use of complex electronic systems, and modern timeless styling that still embraces the unique Corvette heritage/identity - there really is no comparison. The C5 is hands down the best Corvette ever. A sunny countryside weekend drive in our 2001 triple black convertible with 25k miles on it is always like a mini-vacation for me - just miles of smiles and thumbs up wherever we go.
Great C5! I also own a '99 C5 Corvette, also with the manual transmission but just the regular coupe (not the fixed roof coupe like the sheriff). Fantastic car, great fun, and very affordable. I also still can't believe how great it is on gas. On the freeway I do 30-35 mpg easily, it's just amazing! Glad the Car Wizard approves of my ride;)!
I love my 2003 C5. I just spent $2K on the rear main seal and 1K on the harmonic balancer. It has 165,000 miles.
I'm surprised that no one else noticed an omission @ the very beginning: The wizard denied shooting the sheriff, but he said nothing about the deputy... 🎶
Semi rare car right there. A non-Z06 FRC with a manual transmission. Looks clean...
LS1 motors are designed by nature to run hot. 230 is normal operating temp when it is 100+ degrees outside. The fans on a base C5 turn on at 218 and 232. A 160 thermostat is actually preventing the car to get up to normal temp and run properly. During the summer, Mine would hit 230 easily so I put in a Dewitts Radiator and dewitts fan. It now sits around 195 to 215 in 100 degree weather. As far as clearing the messages, just hit the reset button on the DIC controls, and the messages will clear. I own and love my C5 and have done alot of work on it.
I installed this very engine into my 68 firebird, it is amazing, runs 13.2 in the quarter, 0-60 in 5 seconds, and gets 27 mpg’s on the highway!! Smooth as silk
Man he takes pretty good care of that thing. Its freakin CLEAN
I love my C5. She has been reliable, fast, and comfortable for over 22 years. I would buy another one.
That's a rare C5 right there: a Fixed Roof Coupe, predecessor to the Z06. One interior note: that back panel behind the seats is just velcro'd in place and removeable. When you do that you have a lot of accessible room from either the trunk lid or the seats.
I drove my dad’s c5 convertible from Pa..to FLA..great cars , it’s been in the family for 15 years.
I had the pleasure of replacing the harmonic balancer on my LS2 powered C6. It took 2 days on the garage floor. at first I thought the alternator was dropping out under hard acceleration, it was actually the crank pulley slipping on what was left of the rubber in the damper.
$2K is nothing nowdays
I was on the fence about buying a c5 zo6 ..the car wizard said good things about the c5 zo6 in a video before...when a mechanic recommends a car, it made my choice easy...years later of ownership no regrets...the car actually appreciated in value. Thanks Wizard.
