Jeff, thanks very much. Watched and listened to you and snagged a pair in Latvia via EBay. It is almost a magical shoe and can’t wait to race it. My last race was a 200-miler early in November, the inaugural Cowboy 200 in neighboring Nebraska, and this 59-year-old Coloradan placed 15th overall out of 55. Used the Hoka Tecton X for the first 125 miles and, when my feet turned into clown feet, defaulted to the NNormal Tomir for the back 75. The Tomir is a little harsh so an Inov-8 Boomerang footbed made it palatable. Now that I finally have the Genesis, I may use that shoe in my next 200-mile plus in the mountains. Best to you and your family. I appreciate your insights and willingness to share learnings, and admire your love of running and racing. Godspeed! Troy from Colorado.
Since the moment I saw this model I thought: "wow, this looks a badass. Ready to tackle different type of terrains and looks very durable" I would not mind to get my hands into this after my Ultra Glide and Sense Ride 4. I have to admit that since the release of Sense Ride line up, I have been pretty happy with every single iteration but yet to try a S/Lab model. Thanks for the video as usual. Very informative and well explained.
Very interesting point you make about shoe mileage and the gap in the market. I started running recently and when shoe shopping was surprised to see that most shoes cap out around 500-600km. Salomon is doing great innovation here!
Great review again, Jeff! I’ve been using and absolutely loving the Ultra Glide for short trail runs to multi days fastpacking in the Alps. Might give these a shot as a replacement, but I love the Ultra so much
I loved the Sense Pro 4 and was looking for something similar to reaplce them. Just bought these and excited to see how they compare🤞
Many thanks for the review Jeff. I was very curious to hear your thoughts on this shoe. I don’t run long enough distances to justify buying them… will stick to the original Pulsar for the roads and the Pulsar SG for the trails. Nice to see Salomon put so much into a decently light shoe… they keep innovating much more than Hoka in my view…
I'm very intrigued by these. In the past I had no luck with Salomon's last even in their non S/LAB shoes. That changed this year with the Pulsar Trail which are just a fantastic allrounder. So I'm hoping these will also be a good fit. Unfortunately they've been sold out here as well but ultra racing season is over anyway so I have time to snag a pair.
Absolutely love mine. As you say, great choice for the longer efforts.
Been looking for this review since your training diary vids!
Got one recently. And love it.
Getting a pair of the S Lab Genesis soon. Great video👌!!!!
I wish more trail shoes would integrate a short mini-gaiter like this. It really works well.
Love the review! Really like the Genesis, although I think they have a bit too much stuffs for me (-30g would be awesome). I wished my Salomon SLab were lasting 500km. Most die (logs and/or mesh) after about 300 to 400 km :(
Now on the email list for when my size comes into stock 😅
Really interesting, specially the in salomon’s lab 👍🏻
Great video, thanks for sharing! I'm a big fan of Salomon's UltraGlide, which fits perfectly on my feet. Because of the S/Lab is said to be more on the narrow side I hesitate to try them out. So what's your opinion on how especially the toe box of the genesis compares to the UltraGlide?
Great skit Jeff. I’ve been looking forward to the review. Think I’ll Pick up a pair, my ultra glide bottomed out quite quickly 100 miles or so.
I so much wish Salomon would bring back the sense pro. Pulsar trail pro not close, I sent back. But the sense pro 4 was designed for me then they removed it. See these o discount on running warehouse, thinking
So is the slab genesis the replacement for the slab ultra lineup? Does this mean there wont be an ultra 4?
