"Journaling doesn't help you make sense of the world, but it helps you make sense of yourself"

This was so well said.

Also, thanks for bringing up the repetition of thought in journaling. I too have come back and read things that I wrote four or five years ago and I see a lot of repeating thoughts. For a long time I saw that as defect, but now I see that it's not.

@ClairePontin

I think it is worth remembering that Aurelius wasn’t writing a book. Someone later took his various journals and/or commonplace books and put them together into a book (or a set of books). This would explain the repetition and the different formats used. Maybe they were sequential journals and his methodology evolved over time. Or maybe he did what many of us do, and kept multiple diaries concurrently, and used them for different purposes. In any event, his thoughts have spanned the centuries and his Meditations is well worth the read.
Thanks for your thoughts on journalling. Aurelius is a good model.

This is very encouraging for me. I tend to be overwhelmed by self-judgements about how much I repeat things if I journal, which leads to very little and infrequent journaling at all. It's nice to hear the idea that being repetitive can be useful when it's put towards repeating what's important, to help it become reinforced.

@jay3898

I’ve been wanting to write a journal like meditations since 2016. Please, if you enjoy this, keep continuing uploading instructional videos.

@peggymccright1220

How timely! I’ve been journaling for years and recently I’ve felt bogged down. This has given me the boost I need. Thanks

@Tina-wm1rp

This video encourages me to read this book. Thank you. Also your voice is so soothing.

@username-qp9kf

Awesome video, man! You pointed out how many believe that Stoicism is a philosophy of action and how really it is about the unity between thinking and action, I know you have many videos planned I just want to say that a video on philosophy in practice in our lives made by you would be insightful.

@3000NaniNicole

I have just started knowing about philosophy today… as I heard through a conversation last night. Now the journal part has always been my wall on how to start and I like how’s you explain how Marcus writes… now I know how to start journaling

@Budaboombudabeard

I recently came across your video essays and I must say that I am so in love with them. You have a beautiful way of conveying beautiful ideas that are so helpful to one's wellbeing. Thank you for producing these deeply insightful eloquent videos that I believe are works of art. Big props bud. You're doing good work. Marcus Aurelius would give ya a pat on the back fo sho

@TrancorWD

I like how your Focusing on what you can Control section is employing Stoicism in itself haha
It also makes me think of how often it seems Existentialism is conflated with Stoicism online.
Control what you can control, don't try to control your fate.

@tomharner83

The exuberant ad for a little girl's glitter diary in the middle of this ASMR-like video on ancient philosophical journaling was jarringly hilarious!

@essamarkhoun95

I just saw your few videos.. love your insight.. i'm in the middle of reading meditation, and yes, some themes are repetitive, but worth the reminder

@aja1464

Thank you. I want to start journaling in a deeper, more meaningful way in 2025, and your video was both helpful and encouraging. Thank you for all your hard work.

@I_have_noenemies

a cup of coffee and your videos are one the best part in my day.

@Djentstructer

The next time you make a video on Stoicism, could you talk more about Epictetus? Correct me if im wrong but I haven't seen Epictetus discussed much on this channel. Thanks.

@sundari555-f2g

Would enjoy more journal videos🧿

@kokoras12000

@enki313

@adriano06441

As a long-time viewer who loves your content, I can’t say I’m interested in seeing more content on journaling. There are other things I’d love to see you talk about
