Tip I learned is that you can, with focus mode active, fire your slinger with your weapon drawn by clicking in the left stick.
Also worth noting, grilling meat is slightly changed. If youve done the timing correctly, it does an additional scene of cutting into 6 steaks, BUT if you time a button press with each slice, you double the total for each successfully timed hit, making up to 12 well done steaks with just one raw meat. Also, Well Done Steaks dont just restore max stamina now, they also give max hp and heal you, so if your food runs out mid fight you can eat a steak to at least get the hp buff back.
At 00:32 in your loadout you can make stacks of items so you dont have a long line of items. I usually stack similar items like slinger ammo, cleanses, etc. It also makes it quicker to select items in combat when you open the full item bar. When you are making your loadout just hit the rearrange button then the left or right bumper to stack them upward instead of left or right.
Worst part is having to log off for the day after many hours of enjoying something beautiful
for the item bar boomer like myself, you need to hide the random stuff like capture nets, knives, binos, bbq pit, fishing rod, etc. set it to not display in the loadout menu in camp. reduces so much clutter to get to the important items. can still access those thing thru the radial wheel
02:00 You don't have to go back to eat, just pull out you portable grill. It cooks meals as well as steaks
1:59 people seem to forget you can now cook almost anywhere with the BBQ grill, even in the middle of a fight, so that's what I do when the buff runs out
On topic with the first tip, most quests will send you with specific gear on your Seikret. I don’t carry hot/cold potions ever because if I go on a quest in a hot or cold region my seikret will be sent with potions.
3:20 Still trying to break my bad habit of scrolling through the item bar. I know the radial loadout is much more efficient, it's just been so ingrained in my muscle memory since mh3 and in the chaos of the moment my brain just goes dumb.
highly appreciate your approach of not trying to be too much spoilery
Another thing the game doesn’t tell you: your Palico is actually useful and saves you shock traps by laying theirs down when the monster is weak. Peak comfort gameplay
Something I had to figure out myself, set your minimap to fixed overhead in your settings if you don't like the rotating 3D map. I HATE that 3D effect as it makes it difficult for me to read it.
PSA: using your net on a thunderbug swarm will give you a shock trap, so if you go past an area with a thunderbug swarm you can net it for an instant trap refill
worst part about the game is Capcom decided to make you slowly follow the story through each chapter - bro let me hunt - i dont need to follow someone
Trapping isn't always faster for farming specific materials. You need to check what materials you need against the information in the hunters guide. If the part you need has a higher chance on "Carve" than "Rewards" then you should kill the monster. This is a good guide overall but to often people (and the game it's self) gloss over the difference of kill vs cap which is a shame because it's exactly the kind of thing new players wont know with out someone telling them.
Quick tip the butterflies around the map tell you which camp is safe or not
When mounted, if you're done making wounds, go to the head and wait for the monster to find a wall to slam itself against. It adds damage, can break the head, and if it's an environmental feature, can trap or do huge damage to the monster
Tip for low rank. Pick whatever weapon you like and keep your gear updated a bit. Don't run any items so you can always pull your mission inventory. Build Arkveld as soon as you can. Get a solid high rank set that suits your playstyle. Just learn the monsters and you'll be fine.
1 meat can give you 12 well done steaks you just have to get both mini games perfect
