Great tip. Can also switch 1/2 your clothing with someone else that’s traveling with you. So if only one gets lost, you still have 50% of your items.
Ppl don’t think you’re gonna be separated overnight from your luggage but it happened when our plane couldn’t leave due to mechanical issues. Both times we were put up at a hotel without anything but our carryons. You’d think I’d know better! Now I pack extra sleep clothes and minimal skincare.
Hi, I just want to say I love your short videos, they are all very practical and useful, thank you !❤
Not only for lost luggage, last week Missed my connecting flight (delayed flight) was separated from my luggage and this advice really helped!
Such a helpful tip. I now do this and feel so much more relaxed when traveling. Thanks, Laurie.
I've been doing this ever since I saw your YouTube video. Thanks for very good advice ❤❤❤😢
I first flew in 1967. Since then at least once a year. Europe, Mexico, Jamaica, all over the US. Never had a lost bag.
One of the best and simplest hacks…. And NEVER pack your meds in your checked luggage! I used to work in a pharmacy and lost luggage is the number one reason travellers came in to the pharmacy for emergency supplies of their very important meds.
Great tip! What brand tote is it?
With your guidance, I had a really nice flight, thank you.
Yes....I do that on every trip...
Always do this. And hubby and I 'cross pack 'our checked luggage...just in case, so we each have a couple full outfits in either suitcase.
Thx for your advice. It's really helpful.
We went to Europe for a few weeks, first week was an event in Portugal we were invited to, so planned daily and evening activities. I brought a carryon that would have everything I needed but also checked a bag. Our plane was delayed so we missed our connection and got put in economy and they checked our carryon. It never made it, neither did my checked luggage. I had a few things in my husbands checked bag that made it. Luckily I had packed my backpack with as many clothes of different types that I could fit inside it! Two dresses and a pair of dress pants and two shirts took me through a week of evening events and a few Tshirts and the capris I wore took me through the days. Seven days later we finally received our luggage just minutes before we left the hotel for London. 😅Lesson learned. I carry as much in my Tom Bihn backpack as I possibly can!
I should have done that (and also packed a phone charger) when i flew from the uk to Thailand via Turkey with Turkish airlines. My suitcase stayed in Turkey and i arrived in Thailand with nothing. A kind lady in a shop charged my phone and i bought a towel, toiletries etc cheaply. My bag took 5 days to get back to me. Now i pack a few essential items in carry on luggage just in case
This is a great idea! Thanks!
I do the same for me and my family.
I’ve done this for years when traveling, if it’s a destination where you will be swimming I will also put a swimsuit in my personal item. I usually pack a couple of tops 2 pr undies, bra & light weight pants or shorts in personal item. Of course all my toiletries & supplements are in there too.
First time travelling overseas without family. Checked backpack got lost for 36 hrs. Had to borrow bff's undies. Lesson learned, always travel with undies, dress, long tee pj, basic toiletries in personal bag.
